Hi girls! Well, it has been a while since I have written for the simple fact that I don't think anyone visits and reads! However, on the off chance that someone is reading this, I thought it would be a good idea to update you on things. As you know, we just finished "A Woman's Heart" and WOW, what a ride. When we first started the study, Beth said that she hoped this would basically rock our world, and I hoped it would, but usually with statements like that, I am destined to be disappointed. Thankfully, however, I was not! It did rock my world and change my relationship with the LORD dramatically. I couldn't wait to do the next lesson, and the next....I will forever be grateful for that study. I understand so much more about scripture and God, it really opened up my mind! I know I can speak for Pam as well, she found it very thrilling as well. As I hope all of you did.
Right now, though, I am busy getting ready for Christmas, and even though we have been preparing for our next study, I find that I am in a stale place. After all that daily study, I am slipping into the abyss of laziness again! Only reading a devotion here and there. So it is with great anticipation that I tell you I can't wait until our next one! On January 12th, we will begin a study that I have found will be very important to us. I did do some work in it, but had to stop because I do like to work right along with everyone! Kay is not Beth, but you will love her just the same! I know you will. And, when we are done with her study, you will miss her. Fear not, it will probably not be the last we hear of her at WOW!
For now, have a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year, and see you on the 12th!
Love, Lisa and Pam

More Loving Well Pictures

WOW Kick-off

What an amazing Saturday morning we had! Even though we had some glitches like: no airconditioning, and the elevator not working, God was there, and He blessed us tremendously! I hope you all agree, but from hearing from you personally, and reading your wonderful prayer requests, I know He was present and His blessings and His Glory were shone to us! We never know if anyone will show up, or if anyone will like what we do, or if we are doing what we are supposed to do, but God is faithful, He is amazing. You even put up with our silly icebreaker! I hope you see how wonderful this study is going to be. I can't wait to see how God will use this study to draw us close to Him and be in awe of Him once again!
Don't forget to sign up to see Beth in June! See you on the 15th. Do your homework, and remember to pray..."Lord, open my mind that I might have understanding" Remember also to thank Dee for the beautiful artwork!
Please call us if you have any questions.
Love to all,
Lisa and Pam

A Woman's Heart Intro Retreat

It's getting closer; the first day of "A Woman's Heart"! We have so many things on the schedule I am hoping we get it all accomplished. I know many of you are so excited to start this study. God has blessed us with 27 women for this study. This just proved that women are hungry for God's Word! We are already making many plans for next year as well. One thing that stands out is seeing Beth Moore Live! She will be in Pittsburgh June 12-13, and we are planning to go! We will have more info on the 6th about that. She will also be with Kay Arthur and Pricilla Shirer in April in East Rutherford NJ. Some of you may want to go to that event called Deeper Still. Can't wait to see you!

Beth Moore Live Simulcast

We are women of substance! Don't worry, we won't be changing our name to WOS! I will get back to that later!
We were conncected with 49 States, 715 churches, 23 denominations and about 70,000 people! WOW! We had 6 altogether from our church, Pat, Colleen,Elaine, Judi and Mom and I. We also saw some women who came to the Loving Well retreat in May! Beth is going to be close to us in the spring of 09, we are going to try to plan to go to one or both of them! Watch for details soon!
NO surprise, Beth's message was convicting, enlightening and challenging.
Her message was based on Luke 8:1-15, The parable of the sower. She gave us 7 points to memorize so we can hide this Word in our heart.
1.Treasure the Wonder! (Lk. 8:10) Jesus said that "the knowlege of the secrets of the Kingdom of God has been given you" What an awesome thought, what a privelege!
2.Protect your heart! (Lk. 8:12) When we hear God's Word, the devil can take it from us unless we protect it, guard it, believe it and live it! Claim it for your own.."that is MY Word, and you cannot have it!"
3.Expect the test! (Lk. 8:13) Apply and call on the Word of God to get you through that time of suffering and trial. Be prepared! I Cor 10:13 says that God always leaves a door of escape for us during those times of temptation. She also pointed out that God gives us trial to make us stand and Satan give us temptations to make us fall.
4.Dig the roots! (Lk. 13) Eph. 3:17 says "being rooted & established in love" We MUST be convinced of how much God loves us. His love will carry you through every time of struggle. A phrase she had us repeat from II Kings 19-29 was...take root below and bear fruit above.
5. Stop the choke! (Lk. 8:14) Anxiety chokes the Word of God out of us! Refer to Phil 4:6-7, a familiar verse. Start speaking to God and to His faithfulness to us, Believe Him! Remember from Believing God? God is who He says He is - God can do what He says He can do - I am who God says I am...
6.Retain the Word! (Lk 8:15) Retain means "to hold in a vice grip, to possess, own. Eccl 11:6 "sow your seed in the morning" Let it get in your soul first thing to sustain you through your day. She suggested that it doesn't have to be a long study, but just 5 minutes. She reminds us that God's Word heals and restores.
7.Press forth to your 100-fold harvest! (Lk. 8:8) This was the driving force of her lesson. We can produce a 100-fold harvest of God's Word! Think of it, what would that do in our life if we allow that seed to take root, if we protect it, water it, breath it, love it, nurture it, retain it! God's promises are for us today! She also reminded that it takes time, it is not instant, we must persevere, "hang in there", "do the thing", then you will see the harvest and what a joyful day!
At the start of this blog I mentioned that we are women of substance.. that was from the beginning of the lesson vs. 1-3. The Bible mentioned 3 women: Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. They were women of means, of substance, and so are we! They were women much like we are today, women with problems, hurts, sin, but God can use our lives as women of substance to have maximum impact from God's Word in our lives. They were women who heard God's Word and acted upon it. There is just so much more, but I cannot express it like Beth can, nor do we have the time.
In summary, we have the opportunity to be Women Of the Word and substance everyday, and activate it in our lives for maximum impact and a 100-fold harvest. How truly exciting!
You have the opportunity to come to the fall Bible Study where we will continue our journey of seeking, and knowing God. Please sign up in Taylor Hall or call one of us. We are ready to start anew! Praise to the Lord!

Fall Bible Study

Get ready ladies...we are working on the new Bible Study for September and we are excited! "A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place" by Beth Moore will certainly be as great of an experience as we have had so far. We are going to dig in to the Old Testament and study the Tabernacle. This time we are going to have an exciting suprise for our introduction to the study. I can't announce it yet until all the arrangements have been made, but it will be a great way to start out the study. Prepare your hearts with prayer and pray for your leaders. Love to all! If you go to lifeway.com you can read about the study and see a video clip from Beth. First, go to http://www.lifeway.com/ then, go to Beth Moore resources, then go to the picture at the top where it says "Loking for resources from Beth Moore?" and click at the bottom where it says view all, then, just click on the Woman's Heart book and it will take you there! Whew. Sounds more complicated than it is. See you soon! Don't forget about MOVIE NIGHT!

Magdalena...Released From Shame

On Monday July 21, we will show, "Magdelna, released from Shame". This is a unique film which has combined the "Jesus" film from 30 years ago with new footage emphasizing the relationship between Jesus and women. It is our hope that you will invite a friend or relative to this movie who may need to know that Jesus loves them and values them. Sandy Mackin from Campus Crusade for Christ will be our guest that evening and will explain how they are going to use this film to minister to women throughout the world!
We can't wait!

Homiletics

On Monday, June 16th, Mary Caye Beltz led a workshop on Homiletics. 27 women were in attendence and we learned so much in 2 hours! Of course, no WOW event is complete with out a little bit of fun, so we played a purse game in which groups of 4-5 women had to collectively find items in their purse that started with the letters S T U D Y. We had a winner very quickly and they got award stickers! The class was great! Mary Caye had such valuable insight and did a great job teaching us the value of homiletics. I hope that every one recieved something out of it to further enhance their personal Bible study time!

Loving Well

Loving Well...May 3rd 2008
Love one another... for love comes from God.
What an amazing time we had! When Mom and I first saw this "retreat in a box" we thought, "Oh how wonderful, it will be so fun and easy". God really impressed on us that this was something we needed to do. When we first presented this idea to our WOW group, they received it well, but I am not sure they really thought it would be what it ended up being! Neither did we! God gave us little revelations at a time so we would not panic! How wonderful of Him! At first we prayed, Lord, it would be great if we could plan for 50 women! We have 23 in WOW, so that would only mean 27 more women from the congregation and invited friends. It really seemed like an obtainable goal. But, at first, interest seemed to be very small. So, we were very concerned. That, added with the fact that we had no idea what we were doing, especially me, it was quite a journey of trust and faith. I am the most unorganized person in the world, and the biggest procrastinator, so the fact that this happened was a miracle!
We had so much to pray about, and organize and figure out! It was quite overwhelming at times, but God gave us a peace that only He can provide. As God started revealing his plan to us and preparing hearts, it was getting more and more exciting. He called people who had a lot of experience to those who had none. I can safely say that everyone who answered His call were blessed beyond their expectations!!! We went from wondering if anyone would come to having a waiting list! We had to limit it to 80 due to the amount of small group leaders we had and sheer space. As some dropped out, others came in. In the end, we only had three women not come the day of the event, so we were 77 strong!
God taught us so much through this experience. He taught me personally that by truly leaning on Him, trusting Him and relying on Him, will always be the most rewarding satisfying experience you can imagine! To top it off, He was GLORIFIED! Oh how I love Him more and more.
I hope to be able to download the pictures from Loving Well soon. So far, my attempts have failed. Come back periodically to see if I have figured it out!
Loving Well and Believing Him,
Lisa and Pam
